I dunno. I support the games-as-art narrative and think videogames have the ability to tell stories in ways that more passive media like movies, television, and books can’t. But the very fact that they’re not passive means that it takes more effort to consume and my willingness to give that effort is directly tied

Then I guess the Series X is for you.

I’m not upset.  For the consumer (ie, me) it’s a good thing.  Means I don’t have to invest in new hardware.  But I don’t see the logic in spending R&D to make hardware that you sell (usually at a loss) when the one thing that differentiates that hardware from the competition are games that you still don’t need that

In a perfect world everything would be on PC, but I get that console-makers need some incentive for you to not just buy their console, but to buy it instead of (or at least in addition to) their competitors’ consoles.  I don’t really mind or regret buying a PS4 or a Switch, and I’m not sweating buying a PS5.  I just

I loved my Xbox 360, moreso than the PS3 that I bought later just for the PlayStation exclusives.  But I was never big on Halo and Gears, and once Forza started turning up on PC I was stopped playing games on Xbox One (but it’s still my Netflix/Hulu/Disney+/Youtube/Blu-ray player in my bedroom).  And when Microsoft

I guess I’ll try and pick up a PS5. I loved Spider-Man, so I’m down for Miles Morales. And I’m sure over the life of the console there will be other games I’ll want to play that come out on PS5 and not PC.

I don’t think it looks good, but I don’t think any of the main PlayStation consoles have looked particularly good.

I wonder how these are in China.  I tried ExpressVPN last time I went, and it worked some of the time.

Coming up $39 for me.

Coming up $39 for me.

Right, but surely not as much as translating it from scratch, I’d think.

I’m really enjoying mine, but I’m kind of into these mini consoles. Then again I’m also 40 and grew up owning some of the original systems these mini consoles are based on.  I might be the only person on earth hoping for a Jaguar Mini next.

Hmm, I hadn’t been following this. Maybe I’ll check it out.

Steam needs to fix its storefront, not my library interface.  I deleted this and every other shelf they’ve tried to thrust upon me.  I wish I could totally turn off the news bit, too.

Yeah, I’m a little disappointed that EA didn’t keep the license. I liked the Tiger Woods games (even if I think they peaked with 2005) and even got my non-gamer wife to play sometimes. And I picked up Rory McIlroy PGA Tour, and I thought the games was fine as far as the mechanics go, it was just very bare-bones and

This post reminds me that here in Pennsylvania golf courses were allowed to start reopening this past weekend, but the shelter-in-place order and the ban on non-essential travel haven’t been lifted, so technically we’re not allowed to go to the now-open golf courses.

No idea what it’s from, but the sexy pirate in the header works for me.

My four year old daughter saw me watching this. She seemed amused, but also confused.

Technically not backlog, since I’ve finished them when they were new games, but I’m replaying the Far Cry games, just to remember what it’s like to be outside.

Counterpoint to what Zack said, I played the original Bioshock and couldn’t get into it and ignored the franchise until Infinite. I loved Infinite.  I loved it so much it did motivate me to go back and play the first two, and my conclusion is the total opposite of Zack’s- Infinite is the best, then the first one, and
