That is exactly right. I've read a few books on auto brands doing business in China (the best one was American Wheels, Chinese Roads) and it's a scary, but potentially profitable place to operate. These rip-offs aren't illegal in China but they're designed to do exactly what you mentioned...help negotiate a deal.

Isn't part of the spectacle of F1 the sound? Having been to a few races, back when they had V12's, V10's and V8's I sure think so. They sound horrible on TV and even more horrible on this video, big miss by the FIA in my view.
