The commission isn’t supposed to solve the immigration issue. It’s supposed to figure out the logistics for shutting down a huge federal agency and reigning in horrible practices so they don’t get reincarnated. You can’t just do that without some kind of transition plan.

We already have a commission that reviews and evaluated solutions to policy problems. It’s called Congress.
