I don't really have one, but if I had to guess —

Uh, I'm pretty sure that using statutory rape as a cover for murder is one of the stupidest alibis I've ever heard of. She'd lose her job, become unemployable, and for what? To hide the fact that she was having sex with a minor?

I'm assuming it's a smaller version of the pulse weapon that was used against the building two episodes ago. Presumably that's the general direction the Host's technology developed in.

I think you're mistaken — ratings were fine for the channel, and Soderbergh's trying to secure a four season renewal deal, which is holding things up.

So you're saying he should have surrendered?

Apparently it's good. Of course, only a small group of people have actually seen it.

Was the mantis creature supposed to be one of Tree Trunk's six children,

In this context, it means fucking great.

Anyone watch Voltron over the weekend? Much better than the first season, which wasn't bad at all. Plus more gay. (If not, you know, very gay).

Guilty as charged, I'm a method head (and also Australian).

He's kind of evil, though I see potential in the idea of Rebecca, having completely hit rock bottom by the end of the season, falling back into old New York patterns thanks to a relationship with him.

Given that he directly antagonises Rebecca at the end, I'm inclined to agree.

Yes, I'm not trying to defend the show.

You are! I understand what you're saying, but you're still doing exactly the thing I'm criticising.

REPTILE HOUSE!

I'm going to throw it out there — I'm seeing a number of people defending the show's repetition with the argument that it eventually gets better and breaks out of its patterns.

They're middle class drama school kids. It's a thing. They hit their technical marks, but they're not exactly pumping out the charisma.

The kids don't have character arcs, or much of an interior life. A friend pointed out that they're even arranged in exactly the same positions episode to episode — Sunny held by violet, Klaus by her side, everyone looking glum. I get that it's their iconic pose from some illustration in the books, but in doesn't work

Yeah, I thought she was dangerously close to taking the piss at times. Like, there's a difference to giving a performance on a kids show to giving a kids show performance, and I thought this was very much the latter.

This page seems to have been misfiled on the Av Club's database — it's under the generic "tv club" banner, and not under the specific set of pages for The Vampire Diaries, which means that it won't turn up when people look at that page in years to come. Not great for archiving.
