You get the feeling, particularly with The Glass Ballerina in early Season 3, that there was some intention to take Sun down a fairly dark path.

The last time we see anyone living in the caves is in Man Of Science, Man of Faith, the Season 2 opener.

SPOILERS

If you count the flashes, it was a cumulative two-and-a-half. Half a season in Season 2, and then halfway through Season 4 until halfway through 6.

SPOILERS

I agree with you that his season 1 stuff is pretty dull, but I enjoyed watching the character become progressively crazier from Season 2 onwards. There are moments in Orientation and Hunting Party (to name two episodes I recently watched) where he's basically seconds from completely snapping, culminating in his

She's got some sort of pheromone implant under her armpits, yeah, one that shortens her life. But I always thought there was more going on… maybe not half Nebari, but those corneas aren't Sebacean.

I figure they were probably going somewhere with Grayza, given that she appeared to be half Nebari. I'd have enjoyed that.

I don't doubt we'd have gotten more of the Nebari threat as well, and possibly an Idelon as a regular cast member for the season.

They basically do a different thing each season, IIRC, though the jump from Season 3 to 4 is the only one that's jarring in terms of continuity.

Renewed.

Oh yeah. And it's such an ambitious show as well:

Maybe not instead, but damn, I need more Continuum discussions in my life.

I don't remember very much from the first season, but they were really pushing the Oedipal thing in this episode. Though Alak did mention that it was uncomfortable to see his mum bathing alone, so that speaks to different set of sexual mores. Not necessarily incest, though.

Defiance is such an odd show. I don't mean the aliens or the Western stuff or the (fantastic) aesthetic, or whatever, but there's something very strange about the way it all comes together. Does anyone else get what I mean by that? I can't really put it into words.

I KNEW IT COULD SPEAK

Given how meta the show's been, generally speaking, I will be incredibly disappointed if we don't see Dorian Grey sleep with Percy Shelley AND Oscar Wilde. Preferably at the same time.

Yeah, I've never liked it. I'm always surprised that it doesn't come up in the same conversations that mention Fire + Water and Stranger in a Strange Land, since while they're both bad, it's terrible too. Not just the Michael stuff, which is repetitive and mean, but there's the A-plot devoted to replaying the events

I think you could argue the same thing about Season 5's final shot too.

I know people joke about having birds nests for hair, but I wouldn't have been surprised if, when filming that episode, Janey had to comb trapped bluebirds out of her hair at the end of every day.
