The whole scene read as a little contrived to me - not that he wouldn't be so open about his career, but there seemed to be such an eagerness to share and a conveniently timed phone call to expose his job, all while already conveniently talking about careers.

I took it to mean that they couldn't understand why she wouldn't "choose" to get married again. Her walks and work are an assertion of her independence, an independence they believe she maintains at the cost of her family (and others). Hence selfish.

You can read it as a part of Google Book's free preview feature, where it's archived under The War Against Cliche: Essays and Reviews 1971-2000. Not sure what page, but search for 'Bob Sneed Broke The Silence'.

It makes NBC a lot of money in overseas markets, but it doesn't get high local viewing figures.

Also there's new Banshee, which I'm super psyched for. Best action on TV!

Your mother ran away with Jack Lemmon!?

Daniel Henney's an attractive man, but he's not got the charisma of a preacher. I can't tell if that's deliberate casting, to show that he's out of his depth, or miscasting. Either way, I couldn't help but compare that scene to the faith healing stuff in Carnivale and be left wanting.

I guess he's most famous for his comedy, but Alan Tudyk's been playing villains for a while, hasn't he?

For some reason my mind went straight to Scooby-Doo, but the KKK makes more sense.

It was a funny episode — though some of that was probably unintentional. Gotta love Groff and Tovey mashing those gamepads to completely incongruous effect.

Nice that the show found a way to bring Lydia's mother into the show on a more regular basis. I like that it'll give Lydia someone else to bounce off of.

Yeah, normally I'd think of it as being a bit too much. But given all the supporting queer-positive material that goes into the show's narrative, and the moments so distinctly not playing out another variation on dude no-homo, I really liked it.

I’ve made this confession before, and I’m sure I’ll have reason soon to make it again: I often feel as I’ve missed something when I’m watching this show.

Which I enjoyed far more than the other two so far, actually. Not sure why.

That's the problem with his logic then, not yours.

To some twisted logic, it makes sense to date a 13-year-old (as a closeted queer man, I mean). No-one would ever pressure them to have sex together, because the fuck, and she'd have no expectations of what a relationship should look like. So she's the ultimate beard.

The Arrogant Hipster's quoting Brianr54.

The gossip is that he'll not be back until about episode six or seven.

I can see why you might say this, but I'm not too sure that's what I'm doing. It's certainly not what my intention was.

I was in tears through the Club Silencio section. Definitely my favourite part (though I love her audition scene too).
