I'm the pretty cool other one (I assume you're talking about me, right, @Scrawler2:disqus?). Claims of otherkin being "oppressed" are just flat-out offensive and wrong. Bullied, sometimes, stigmatized, yes (though given the number of idiots in the community I can see where the stigma comes from), but nobody's

That counts in canon as the 8th Doctor (who actually has the most official novels and radio stories of any of the Doctors).

Don't you mean all 11?

Steampunk and vampire seem to be the closest comparisons in terms of the ratio of interest in the art itself to interest in creating one's own art based on certain character themes to interest in porn and weirder shit (plus both vampire fans and furries intersect with parts of the otherkin community for whom it's not

Someone did get legally married to their waifu in a Nintendo 3DS Dating Sim in Guam, though.

@avclub-83de02c3cfc3634de1279cbc17a8fbae:disqus There's a term because there's terms like "Trekkie" and "cinephile" for people who are more into Star Trek or film than regular people, but obsession doesn't necessarily equal sexuality. Furry in the most general sense of term is just a different flavor of nerddom: http:/

I'd say the one thing worth noting here is that this sort of "marriage" happens while same sex marriage is still illegal in most of the country.

Furries aren't necessarily sexual, most of them are just nerds who like anthropomorphic animals and fanart and costumes and shit. But there is a Venn Diagram overlapping regular nerd furries and perverted furries (and then there's overlapping circles involving regular nerd bronies and perverted bronies).

As our resident otherkin, marrying fictional characters confuses the hell out of me.

Ran is my all-time favorite, but that's a movie that needs to be seen on a good theatrical print rather than streaming.

There's certain bits of weirdly incomprehensible editing (I'm thinking the scene in the bathroom with the grandpa and the goblin or whatever the hell was going on) that always shock me how bad they are no matter how many times I see them.

That's Nilbog, not Nilgob.

I'm in a production of Assassins this semester. Maybe make that Disney's first R-rated animated musical?

HERRO EVERY-NYAN!

GKids has been running festival screenings of the older films but Disney still has the home video rights. As for future films, I don't know. I'd hope the next Miyazaki gets a wide release courtesy of Disney, but you never know.

"Boring" seems to be the main beef. Add in the high standards of Ghibli and being the second disappointing Earthsea adaptation and that translates to "hate".

I don't find Miyazaki's ideas boring, though I guess maybe it's less the ideas themselves than the passion and thinly-veiled rage that I find interesting and exciting. I mean, Ponyo's an adorable children's film about his wish to see human civilization destroyed! There's plenty of environmentalist art out there,

SAMUUUUURAAAAAIIIII JAAAAAACK!

George Takei said he wanted to host on Facebook during the last Oscar show. I say give it to him: he's funny, likeable, somewhat relevant to the movie year given the new Star Trek, his internet writing hopefully means he has a sense of brevity missing from the Oscars as of late, he can even just "Oh my!" at the right
