Doesn't "kinetic" imply movement? Yu-Gi-Oh's kind of the opposite of kinetic. Even by TV anime standards, it's stiff, and I doubt the movie's a significant jump in visual quality.

He was supervising director for all of the first 4 seasons. Basically he was to Futurama what Brad Bird was to Simpsons, which is a good sign as far as movie careers go.

Being less than an hour long and released the same weekend as the final Harry Potter will do that to people's radars.

I'm probably going with my anime club. Nerd mode is gonna be stuck on in that case. Which I won't mind at all, since it sounds like this will be fun either way.

Apparently Greg Elwood from Hitfix was in the same room as GDT (guessing it was some Rise of the Guardians press event or something) when the news came out, and apparently GDT was excited but expressed no interest in wanting to direct the movies. Just as well; Pacific Rim looks like it could be the original…

He was fun in Help and (in cartoon caricature form) Yellow Submarine as well. Wasn't he going to play Gollum in that Stanley Kubrick Beatles Lord of the Rings which never came to pass?

Why the refusal? I did notice it was a smaller release than the typical wide release, but I thought that was just the studio limiting print costs, not theaters refusing to show it.

Anyone else disappointed Frankenweenie didn't get a pre-Halloween box office boost? I know it's not cool to like Tim Burton anymore, but I really enjoyed that movie and it should be doing a lot better than it is. I'd have thought at this point the families who'd already seen Hotel Transylvania would be checking it out…

A bit of math that makes Cloud Atlas's gross not look so bad: it did have the highest per-theater-average of any film playing in over 20 theaters. And considering it most likely had 30-50% less showtimes than anything else playing due to its length, its per-showing average was probably even more comparatively…
