As someone who loved The Social Network and Moneyball but never watched Sorkin's previous TV shows, I've enjoyed this series so far. Maybe I'd be less positive about it if I'd seen his previous work he's apparently repurposing, but the actors and the dialogue are entertaining enough.

Not really. Since, you know, civilization still exists in this movie (and how civilization tries to "help" the people of the Bathtub is one of the more interesting parts of it).

I remember distinctly seeing Levis listed in the credits for Tree of Life, which makes me think Malick was somehow involved with those ads.
