I too found his reaction jarring and chilling and sickening in a way I couldn’t quite articulate. A true monster, crying like a toddler, looking for sympathy. The distance between that tantrum and taking his punishment like an adult is just... stunning and enraging.

I don't know. I think they lie to so many people and themselves so much that somehow they convince themselves they didn't really do it. Or find some justification to excuse themselves. It probably takes years of prison time for someone like that to actually take responsibility and realize what they did was wrong.

Given that he combined his sobbing with incredulously asking the jury how they could possibly have found him guilty, I’m going to say there is absolutely zero chance he feels any remorse. His only regret is that he wasn’t allowed to serially rape vulnerable women with impunity.
