Ah man, I love 12oz Mouse. Shame there's no region 2 DVD available; though this is understandable as the entire English fanbase apparently consists of me and my brother.
@avclub-72085404bc24959bbd79392bc8ad27d0:disqus , Definitely. S1 holds its own as a silly spoof cartoon, but serves to introduce a wide ranges of characters and the rules to the world in which they live.

Things I hated:
Jeff's attitude towards the Germans. All of the offhanded remarks about them being Nazis. I get that it kinda makes sense plot-wise with the 'We were the Germans the whole time' revelation; and fair enough, they were douchbags in that foosball episode, but you can't just call compare someone to a Nazi…

Giacchino is definatly one of the best modern film composers in this respect; Lost, Up, The Incredibles & Super 8 are all motif-heavy and pretty easy to recall, definatly more so than Zimmer's stuff. Though its true, the golden age seems to have passed.
Though it would be weird to have Star Wars without Williams, Giacchino wouldn't be so bad. In-keeping with the film's Spielberg theme, his Super 8 score was obviously influenced by Williams, and that was one of my favourite soundtracks of the year.

Family-gathers-in-a-room-and-goes-crazy scenes are indeed the best scenes.

I was working in a theatre the other day with this on in the background. At the appropriate point, everyone in the room stopped what we were doing to mumble "Mmmmmm.. lets tessellate" then carried on with the case. No-one commented on it at the time or since.

When Billy used his nose-laser to begin the explaination of the multiverse, did anyone else notice it made the same noise that Golden Joe makes when he teleports in 12oz Mouse? It might be a stock sound effect; if so, its probably worrying that my mind went to that show first.

A Dalek companion would be quite cool, for a while at least; with Whatever-her-name-is playing the mind behind the tank. The inherent clunkiness of the Daleks would make it impractical though.

I'm also partial to the Chinese. Especialy when Book releases a torrent of mandarin symbols in one of the comics, that was a nice touch.During a particularly boring stint at uni, I decided to memorise one of the longest and silliest expletives, "Wuh duh ma huh ta duh fung-kwong duh wai-shung doh" - Holy mother of God…
