I think we unfairly compare Uber and the cab companies. It really should be a localized thing, Uber might work well in one city and not in another part of the state (let alone another part of the country/world).

Everyone should be implanted with life long birth control, at birth(if we asked science, they could do it). The only way you get it removed is by passing a test. And the test is hard and you have to prove all kinds of shit, that you are worth having your genes reproduced and you can afford a child. And it…
They probably charged her before they knew what happened, like they would any customer. This is not something to be pissy at Uber about (this part of it, anyway).
Pointing out that an 18-year-old who commits murder is not automatically absolved from that murder based on his age is really not the same thing as saying his co-conspirators are innocent.
Actually we were focusing on the ridiculousness of the quote about him being a normal kid (despite all evidence to the contrary), but sure, let’s bring misplaced anger and sexist slurs into it.
Uber makes me uneasy sometimes, but people who are turning their nose up at it and those who use the service really frustrate me.
Yeaaaah...all that licensing and regulating didn’t stop a cab driver from raping, murdering and dumping the body of woman in an abandoned construction site in SOMA.
That is super creepy sorry that happened to you. It’s good that you could easily access his info to report this asshat. And agreed, local taxi drivers can be just as creepy and aggressive. because misogyny. I live in SF and was once walking home mid-day. A yellow cab pulled up and the driver said out the window “Hey,…
But what I mean is, say a guy who operates a Yellow Cab in, I don’t know, Peoria rapes a passenger. She reports it to the local police, he loses his license, it gets handled however it’s handled. That doesn’t stop anyone from getting a Yellow Cab in, I don’t know, Nashville. But if a woman gets raped inside an Uber,…
I won’t use a flagged-down cab after a scary incident years ago. The thing is, at least with an Uber you have a record of where you were and whose car you were in. I do use Lyft though because in general they are more thorough with their background checks, have a slightly better pricing system, etc.
Apparently they are cheaper and provide a better service than regular taxis.
Maybe I’m cynical, but it’s not much different then the treatment you get with yellow cabs. I can see why it’s still a thing because the choice is between two transportation options that both have a chance you might encounter an abusive and creepy weirdo, but one of them is more convenient then the other. At least the…
Cab drivers can be scary and rude, too. Since she was able to communicate by phone first, she saved herself being in a car with that man. I choose services like Uber because I can share/receive info easier with my friends and the driver so if anything did go wrong I have more avenues of communication than I do hopping…
If there are enough young people to keep Urban Outfitters’ UMPTEEN stores in business, there are enough to populate both festivals.
To be fair, Florence and the Machine plays every festival.
But when she asks the courts to estimate the damage done to her by the clinic’s mistake, she is putting her decisions up for scrutiny. She could have mitigated that damage by choosing to abort in the first trimester.
Well then she could sue for the emotional baggage. Personally I think it’s just as wrong to bring an unwanted child into the world. The emotional baggage is borne by the child, the parents, and the siblings. Tired of tiptoeing around pro- life values. Abortion is a totally rational choice in this instance.
So I totally don’t think that they should pay her kid’s medical bills unless it is their fault that the kid has issues. It’s their fault that the kid was born, yes. But that should be the end of it.
It’s a pretty epic fuckup but she could’ve had an abortion. Selective yet rigid adherence to certain religious beliefs is why she is in this predicament now. Just saying. The church is against birth control too, ain’t it?
Same but also would not have in a million years gone through with the pregnancy
