Epic said to them “You either go exclusive, or you don’t get to use the platform period.”
Epic said to them “You either go exclusive, or you don’t get to use the platform period.”
This simplistic “big = bad” rhetoric is exactly the fallacy that let’s Republicans increase bad corporations profits while pretending they stand for small business.
Zack, gonna assume the policy read differently when you posted this, since you normally are a FUD writer, so just a heads up that the linked to policy currently reads: (bolding added by me)
This is pretty great. I wish they had listed the characters’ names/what they’re from, though. I probably recognized 30% of them, but I’d love to see side-by-sides of the rest with the character they were playing.
Ah what fun! Bereft of any purpose I’ll simply grind. For loot. That will help me grind. To get more loot. I am in no way a joke from Terry Jones’s 1989 film Erik the Viking brought to life in a miserable burning world. Hahaha nope, not me.
No Nathan. I generally like you, but you are wrong.
I said everything I needed or wanted to say about the entitlement that informs EGS rage (and no, I’m not an EGS fan—but come the fuck on) in the previous story on Ooblets.
The only thing I feel a need to add at this point is: if a person’s argument in defense of issuing death threats/sexist epithets/mocked-up photos…
Nothing excuses the threats and harassment the Ooblets developers have received. Nothing excuses the Ooblets developers’ needless provocation, either, and yet you continue to excuse it, and for what purpose?
Solidly team no one here. I’ve seen the internet harassment campaigns play out before, but the ooblet team’s pre-emptive response is incredibly shitty and passive aggressive, and so is telling patrons that they aren’t entitled to any special consideration when they helped fund the game, but can’t actually buy it…
No mention of this?
Isn’t the backlash with the exclusives the fact that they happen after they were planned to release on Steam? I don’t think people care all that much if the announcement comes before people have sunk money into the games. I know I don’t care. I can wait to buy my games as I have many, many on my backlog. I prefer…
While I support their decision to do what makes sense for their company, especially financially, it felt like their counterarguments were mixed between easy lob shots and fraught fallacies:
You may not like his style, but he’s clearly doing a lot for promoting science and scientific thought. I don’t think he can be said to be “hurting science” because he tweets about how Avengers could not, in actuality, happen in real life...
This is a pretty bad take.
I bet you think it’s racist when Chinese grocery stores near your area have signs you can’t read too.
You mean.... every other con? They don’t ban anyone, did you even notice the white and asian people in the cosplay sections? Or i’m guessing you didnt even bother to watch the video, because then you wouldnt have posted.
No. It is not racist. The point is to include people that get messed with at other cons, not to exclude people or get revenge. Intent matters.
That convention looks awesome. I hope everyone had a great time. I’m not the right audience for the con, but i’m so glad it exists for the right one. Excellent Cosplays.
Honestly, good on Pekos for having the maturity, sportsmanship, and wherewithal to smile and fist-bump Rycroft there at the end—he really didn’t owe Rycroft that, especially after that display of “I’m so good I can beat you without my sword,” but it made me smile to see it happen all the same.
...and, hell, good on…
As someone who doesn’t watch competitive gaming of any sort I was pretty taken with that show of sportsmanship. They both seemed in really good spirits, equally understanding the absurdity of what had just taken place. The fist bumps just seal it as a fun gaming moment. Maybe it’s because they were already in the…
