Exactly, the movies are getting with the times. Would be cool if they went the AC Odyssey route with a major game like this. Give players a choice.

It’s not even that he’s a white male. He’s so... bland.
Another white male, no option to play female.
People keep asking why this is a thing (others judging how someone plays a game, especially a single player one), and I think the main reason is pretty simple:
Literally everything else you’ve typed so far belies your statement that you’re “not angry”.
Sure bud. You are right. You CAN eat ALL the dicks. The end.
Don’t you get tired of being so angry all the time? Two years in and still shouting.
I agree. As soon as I read how the starter set is supposed to be a “one-shot” only, and you would need a real campaign book, I knew that the Person writing this cant be that deep into D&D. The starter set includes a full fledges campaign for anyone wondering. Also, you wont need battle grids, pawns and whatever else…

I agree completely. As a DM you’re there to tell a story... you don’t need all the *stuff* to do that.

I’m not sure about these days, but back in the TSR years, the more time a DM spent with expansion books, maps, etc., the less fun the game. You just can’t buy storytelling abilities.

You don’t NEED all this stuff. And for goodness sake, a Chessex set of 7 dice can run you $5, not the $30 or so you’re putting out there.

This. And this is the DND renaissance! There are so many places to find free pre-written campaigns, advice on virtually all things DND, stories, DIY guides for crafting minis and terrain, podcasts/youtube/twitch series to draw inspiration from, etc. All you need is an internet connection and a passion, and the rest…

Exactly, if you go to a game store and ask if anyone has a game, you will probably find one. You likely won’t need to even buy dice right away cause most experienced players have multiple. Also most players can teach you the rules by heart, and only look at the books for edge cases or monster stats. You dont have to…

Because it’s yet another account I have to manage and keep track of; another potential headache down the line when their aggressive push for market share results in an oopsie woopsie because they had to rush to jury-rig together the store front they wanted; another digital store front that is well within their right…
Eeh, I’m going to disagree somewhat. This is a pretty expensive list for newbie DMs.
First off, the Starter Set (either original flavor or the new Stranger Things flavor) is superlative, with a great, stripped-down ruleset that gives you all the basics and an adventure. The adventure in the Starter Set is easily the…

Oooh, that’s a conspiracy theory I hadn’t heard before. I don’t think it holds water (there’s no direct connection between “media outlets” and “Google” that would determine editorial content), but I appreciate the additional scuttlebutt that taps into the simultaneous fears of Big Google and Mainstream Media. Makes me…
More so with how unsecure Epic accounts can get. I am glad my account didnt get penetrated by a hack but I know so many friends who say some hacker bought items on their account. Valve may also have hackers and even scammers rampant but not to an extent Epic has. Also you could deal with it in general.
There is zero benefit to the customer when Epic nabs an exclusive for themselves, and several tangible negatives. It’s pretty straightforward to understand, and so thank you for this breakdown.
“Maybe this really will make Valve care a little bit more about Steam going forward.”
