There isn’t any double standard. Daredevil and Jessica Jones handles it well, because those are mature stories suited to handling mature topics, and BvS is a PG-13 movie made for high school boys who like explosions.

Personally, the “Marvel Method” has a wider appeal because life in general “sucks”.. But those that love the darkness enjoy their respite in the DC world because it makes their pain relative.. (yeah, I love my favourite girl, but at least isn’t being blown up by those guys.. yet)
