It’s very difficult to remember that the person who produced such heart rendering music:
I understand churches want to be relevant for today (and not disappear as sadly as so many have done where i live). But when they want to become brands it makes me feel so awful. Let my clothing, home, car and fashion choices reflect in some way how brands impact the person i am - everyone who buys anything is lying…
Me as well. I’m from the area, and the idea that ignorant fuckwads i grew up with are taking pride in this show like it’s somehow legitimizing them while they still get to be the same racist, sexist, dumbasses irl is very irritating.
I’m from the area Letterkenny is set in. There are no black people nor first nations canadian people in the area (or almost none) - so it’s nice that they added diversity to a show depicting an area that has almost none. I live elsewhere nowand brought a few (asian) friends to the area and they immediately noticed…
I live in a large city, but our subway isn’t that deep underground. Even i was like, “Jesus, when do these escalators ever END?” when I visited DC.
I always got annoyed by people who made the same life choices as yourself but when they changed their mind, acting like as if they had ‘grown’ and ‘became wiser’ to make that change - when in reality their circumstances were different than yours and that was it.
The time when I decided boutique spin classes are really not for me is when asmall, trendy studio opened up in my neighbourhood. It was crazy expensive of course but what really pissed me off is they had only one person of colour instructor and she did the ‘hip hop’ sessions. Of course, maybe she liked that music - i…
Lol - when i was a lot younger i was an ‘artistic’ nude model for photographers (mostly standing naked in old empty warehouse lofts with like, flowers). And I once got paid by a very nice guy who would get money from other lonely dudes by posing in letters as a young college girl who needed money (this was before the…
Lol!
<3 escape to the country
I imagine it’s not a great feeling inside to know and understand that the way you looked when you were born wasn’t even close to being enough for your success and for people to want you.
When the heist starts and gets going it’s a total adrenaline shot that’s surprising.
As a person who felt a bit unhappy when they had to take off a bunch of branches of a pine tree near the house and watched the sap bleed out of the tree, this really pisses me off.
Ben DeLaCreme is easily the best impersonator in all the seasons of drag race. Her Downton Abbey Maggie Smith is exact - and very, very clever.
I agree with you about Pontypool. 2 random things though make me like it more:
I’m 40 now and as a kid growing up in nowhere in Canada, Jeanne Becker and Fashion Television was my fascination. It’s a bit weird as the fashion industry here isn’t a big thing but this show was a big deal, she got in everywhere and interviewed everyone. It was the tv highlight of my week, i was obsessed.
I worked as a cook as a Canadian national chicken franchise (Canadians know it well) - and saw this:
Conan is absolutely perfect for off the cuff stuff like this, like his travelling videos - it really shows in an era of awkward talk show hosts saying awkward things on their online shows (*cough* Jimmy Fallon). Really separates the good from the ‘meh’ with no cues around.
