Really, this stone video is a summary of a short TED talk that he gave (posted here). The TED talk was a summary of longer TED talks. Don't try to draw too many conclusions from the short stone video.

If you watch some of his other talks, you will see that he has data to back up his little demonstration here.
"Dropping like a stone." I see what you did there, and I like it.
Agreed. After 44 years, the special effects of 2001 still hold up. There are movies that are 5 years old that don't hold up as well.
It's a shame that they could only use good guys for the picture. Syndrome is obviously based on Iron Man. Nick Frozone is a nice touch. They should have used Frank from Cars as the Hulk.
My objection wasn't with picking on Hawking, but the tasteless way that he did it.
I've never forgiven Seth MacFarlane for picking on Stephen Hawking on Family Guy. The clip is on YouTube, you can find it for yourself under the title "Wheelchair cripple makeup sex". I refuse to provide a link. After I saw that the first time it aired, I never watched Family Guy again.
I always thought that Green Lantern was supposed to capture what worked in Iron Man. The problem is that DC didn't realize that Tony Stark is more than a cocky, self-absorbed idiot, so they copied the wrong parts of Iron Man.
"Viral" in this case means part of a viral marketing campaign, or ARG (alternate reality game). These campaigns are getting pretty common for large budget movies. Some of them can be fun, and others not so much. J. J. Abrams uses them to great effect. The ARGs for Cloverfield and Lost are legendary.
I think my comment went to the wrong part of the thread.
I have the Pixar job postings in my RSS feed. I have a Ph. D., but I'm always tempted to apply for their line cook positions.
My best Depp-ish vampire voice is pretty pathetic.
I only heard of Dark Shadows from the version that came out in 1991. [www.imdb.com]
I spent all week wondering how IO9 would review Dark Shadows.
I just got back from The Avengers. Take that how you wish.
Sorry, but 11.99999.... = 12. This is two different decimal representations for the same number. (I get to use my math Ph. D. for once!)
If Atlas Shrugged was about cars instead of trains, this guy would be the hero. Just like in all of Ayn Rand's novels, reality is the villain.
Don't forget that January Jones is in both.
The scooter is CP, but I voted NP just for "Screw You, OPEC!"
