Hmm...Very thought provoking. There's the idea/concept of the hybrid supercar, but then there's putting them into production...Hmm...

Actually, the 918, along with the once-mad idea of a hybrid supercar with 70 mpg, came out in 2010 as a concept car, the P1 in 2012 as a concept car, and the LaFerrari in 2013 in production guise. That's not exactly "nearly the same time."
