In the quest for more fuel efficiency and safety, many automakers are moving away from hydraulic to electric power assist steering (EPAS). Cars with EPAS will save around 1 MPG, and allow manufactures to implement active safety systems like lane keeping assist.

Why do our generals even want to get rid of a great platform, especially when they don't even have a true-blue replacement in the works? I support the F-35, but this is just absurd. An F-16 or F-35 cannot tackle the task of CAS as well as an A-10 could, so why kick the A-10 out?
