Not a Canadian thing? I am not Canadian and thats how my adapter works too, the extension has the 3 prong and the regular adapter has just 2. i believe i read somewhere they added the 3rd prong to the extension because its a longer cable and more interference can ensue or something like that

oh didnt think you caught that, i accidentally hit enter instead of delete after i remembered you can plug the power adapater directly instead of just the extension, post was only live for like 20 seconds before it was change
