There is an increased volume of them. For me, it was Family Guy that ruined it. That show popularized the notion that all you need to make “comedy” is a bunch of references to other pop culture things that people recognize. The Simpsons did it better, but it also drives me crazy when so many people only know a classic

Steve Whitmire, not Whitmore.

I assumed it was because their logo is an image of a woman.

Great review. I was always intrigued by the existence of this movie, and finally watched it about a year ago. With its craziness and intensity, I kept thinking it was like the offspring of an opera and a cartoon. (Not to be confused with “What’s Opera, Doc.”)

Fraggle Rock is better than football.

I don’t understand relationships where people apparently force their significant others to watch TV shows they hate. If you care about a person, and you’re aware they strongly dislike a TV show, why wouldn’t you just say “Okay, you can just [do any other thing] while I watch my show?”

Wow, I didn’t expect to see Rodney D. Young here. Or anywhere. I still occasionally think about a particularly strange series of ads they ran with a trio of characters called “The Young Amigos.”

Penguins come from cold places. Summer is the season when it’s hot. It’s whimsical.

This is the first time I’ve ever seen someone else post a comment containing my profile pic.

The only valid reactions are EXTREME reactions.

Sure we do. Kermit riding a bike in The Muppet Movie... All the Muppets riding bikes in The Great Muppet Caper... They have feet when they need to have feet.

Dragging the rest of us down to his level is yet another reason to hate the guy.

Centering around Efron and Zendaya is an interesting notion. I liked the movie, but I couldn’t but wish the Barnum character wasn’t presented as being such a romantic, noble hero. Shifting the focus around more might have helped.

I FRY MINE IN BUTTER!

I can’t remember if this was a Blu-ray feature or a talk show appearance, but somewhere out there is a video of Constantine attempting to name all the Muppets and either getting their names wrong or offering vague descriptions. It’s pretty great.

Frank Oz had already retired from the Muppets years before the 2011 movie came out. It would have been pretty surprising if he had returned to the characters for the movie after years away.

People do seem to have the most fondness for whichever one they watched the most growing up.

Also, it’s not the “real” Muppets. There are no puppets, none of the performers worked on it, and it had its own creative staff with little to no overlap with the main Muppet productions. It was a very good Saturday morning cartoon, but it’s not a great Muppet thing.

Steve Martin is in The Muppet Movie.

I think Constantine (the evil twin Kermit) is a huge part of the reason I love Muppets Most Wanted so much. He was a new Muppet character, so the writers and Matt Vogel were free to have him do whatever they wanted, without the pressure they must feel to avoid the “Kermit/Fozzie/Piggy/whoever wouldn’t do that!”
