I think Mexico City actually gets hottest in April and May, and even then it’s just around 80. It’d probably be way more plesent than St. Louis or Atlanta (or maybe even New York) in August.
Theramin guy and bagpipe guy are probably not that different. I think it comes down to how aware they are of the fact that people can find their quirkiness obnoxious rather than endearing. Theramin guy is aware that he can be an acquired taste and mostly keeps it to himself. Bagpipe guy is totally oblivious and enjoys…
I’ll continue being the belligerent Atletico fan and pop in to say...
I guess I just don’t need every game to look like the NBA all star game. Atletico has the best back line and best individual central defender in the game, full stop. So why not play to your strength?
We are one quarter of the way to two all-Spanish European finals (UCL and Europa). If that happens, the only teams to beat Spanish teams in the knockout rounds will be Spanish teams. And that is without Barcelona. But yeah, the Spanish league is crap outside of the top two or three.
I will come right out and say that I am biased. I am an Atletico fan. I root for Atleti for two reasons. 1, I am also an Uruguay fan, and Atleti tend to sign lots of Uruguayans in their prime. 2, I am a former (very bad) central defender, and I love seeing a team dominate at what I used to try to do.
I guess we’ve been expecting Leicester to collapse all season, so it’s tough to expect anything else. But can we just cut the crap and admit that there is no way they don’t beat Everton next week? This isn’t the Everton of old that was pushing for top four. It’s a mediocre side at best, going up against a team that…
The reason you don’t see the Minnesota flag on merchandise is that it cannot easily be distinguished from the 22 other state flags that consist of a blue field with the state seal in the middle. (Minnesota uses a lighter shade of blue, but even a guy like me who spent his adolescence looking at charts of flags rather…
There are three reasons I don’t have a Diego Godin shirt in my closet.
You have to understand that I am coming at this from my perspective as an elated Atletico fan. I don’t feel the need to complain about Barca always getting calls because my team still beat them. Sure, Suarez and Neymar crossed lines in the game without punishment (at least from the refs- Neymar probably spent some…
So it was a very good thing they didn’t award the penalty on the Atleti hand ball. I thought that was another example of the referee erring on the side of not making a call that could easily swing the game to one team.
Although I prefer Atletico’s chances against Real in a two-leg match-up compared to a one-off final (you never know when Ronaldo is going to blow up), I want nothing more than revenge for Lisbon in the final. (My gut is telling me Real-Atleti and City-Bayren in the semis, though.)
I really appreciated that the referees let them play. Yeah, it was super chippy, and I will admit that I was yelling for a card when I first saw Godin’s eye coming off of the Suarez elbow (Tabarez better hand Luis extra laps next time he is on national team duty), but it was the character of the game, both sides…
