l currently drive for Uber in a non Uber Black capacity. I have no problem with this, as I personally don’t want to speak to them anyway. Driving is difficult enough without the distraction. And as far as ratings, I once had a guy sit in my car, give me a $5.00 tip on the app, and proceeded to give me 3 stars. One can

Wrong. This is a service based contract agreement. Should I be able to sign into Uber App while at my desk job and just deny every potential ride? What if I drive to the middle of the national forest, far away from any potential ride (farther than other Uber contractors, at least) and claim I need minimum wage?
What

Why do I need to justify not chatting to a stranger? And what should I say when I just don’t feel like making small talk? I don’t see how it’s colder to click an option that effectively says “this rider would like a quiet ride” than it is to say, in the car, “I don’t feel like talking right now, thanks.” If anything,

And working for $10/hr is bullshit too so why dont you stop working for $10/hr + maintenance costs?

Except the app doesn’t tell the driver not to talk unless the customer checks it. Ergo, it’s the customer telling the driver not to talk, not Uber, not the app.

Like I said, in general I agree. But some people are really bad at taking a hint.

And you didn’t want to learn more about how the government is spraying reflective crystals in the atmosphere to stop the populace from learning about the return of Nibiru and our impending psychic awakening? Whatever, sheep.

This is ex-gawker. If it’s about anything that threatens their champions of the social justice (such as taxi companies, evidentialy) it’s the Big Bad.

Most drivers I have are well versed in reading people’s tone and know when they don’t want to talk.

Or people can not drive for them.  There is that.

Or have you just run out of actual shit to complain about today?

Uber is problematic in many ways, but I’m just not sure why this is such a big deal: if the driver knows ahead of time that the passenger wants to just stare out the window or look at his/her phone in peace, why should that be so offensive?

For some drivers, it saves some them the pressure of being friendly/chatty to

Does this apply to Uber Eats as well? Because I don’t like the idea of some stranger talking to my Doritos Locos tacos before I do.

I mean, I’m pretty sure that’s how a limo service can work, if you request it.

The phone app?

All anyone ever wanted was a cab that would actually show up when you want/need one, that you could hail with an app, with an app and that accepts credit cards without pretending the machine was broken

Which car were we discussing?

I’m guessing they have a rewind function.

They had to balance out the plane somehow.

I’d be fine with that... That applies to pretty much any flight.
