I didn’t appreciate it at the time, but killing of Splinter - which I still maintain did itself no favors, but that’s another issue - was the first step in what will be the killing of each property. It seems obvious, now, that Jez and The Root are to follow.

Given the level of incompetence they have displayed over the past few days, I would not be surprised if the comments section was up and down.

This is the 2nd time that I've read this & I'm confused because I was commenting over there AFTER you posted this. 

I suspect that was the goal all along--ownership just thought they could do this without muss or fuss.

I only follow football, but I’ve always found myself reading a lot of Deadspin’s articles because the writing was just so fucking good—and the comment section was dependably terrific as well. Was.
