Speaking of the NHL, have you ever attended a Blackhawks game? They cheer and yell throughout the entire anthem so you can barely hear it. But somehow that’s ok.
1. NASCAR drivers are technically independent contractors by law. Their rights are null. That should clear up the confusion since there’s apparently hundreds of labor lawyers here.
It’s not just a team by team decision that crew members stand for the anthem, it’s mandated by NASCAR. Every week the crew chiefs get a handout with pit information and information about the next race. At the bottom there is always a paragraph about proper etiquette during the anthem.
