The one year I played soccer, the coach liked to put me in as goalie since whenever he gave me a position, I would stubbornly remain in that position and not foolishly chase after the ball like the other exuberant children.

I feel like a more spot-on jezebel-style article would have been an examination of whether it’s OK to scare children at parties with movie character costumes. Benefits, downsides, how it will effect children’s psyches as they grow older, and what it teaches both girls and boys.

I want you to win a Pulitzer for this line alone:

Less beautiful shitshow would have been a kotaku mix-up

Really? I was ungreyed on Lifehacker really quickly... maybe I just picked the right article to comment on to get ungreyed (it had, like, 2 other comments total - that’s the tactic I’d recommend)

It was the first headline I saw after finding out Jezebel/Deadspin are playing switcheroo - and this was my response

Seconded - bar trivia proves my intellect (sort of, not really... but at least it could be argued, as opposed to golf which proves nothing except the possession of money)

... I’m dating someone who enjoys disc golf. To my relief, he plays maybe 3 times a year and just shoves the not-frisbees into a regular backpack. He took me once with his friend group and they were all very nice, if a little... stoner.

Just because you think there’s no wage gap in IT doesn’t mean that’s actually true:

Are you seriously arguing that women are less literate than men? Studies have shown that young women are doing far better than young men in high school and college, despite your personal experience on PlentyofFish.

And some of those 30% never entered the workplace in the first place, right? So over 70% of women don’t leave the workplace to have kids.

But wasn’t that just the winter prom?

I took an overnight train ride in France in a women-only car - it was great. It’s not that I felt that much safer, since I was always at a higher risk for someone stealing my stuff than sexually assaulting me, and a female-only bunking situation doesn’t change that, but I felt more comfortable falling asleep with

Are we sure these train cars aren’t for overnight rides? Because those qualify as places one sleeps. It’s a serious question, because I saw this headline and went “wait, they don’t have that already? I got a female-only car when I took an overnight train in France 7 years ago”

When I traveled on overnight trains in France, I had to option to choose a female-only train car (with similar exceptions for young children traveling with a guardian). I liked having the option (and went with it) since I was more comfortable sleeping in a car with other women.

I’ve heard from other people who worked retail in areas with a lot of Hasidic Jews that they had terrible experiences with them as customers. Is it less racist if you don’t have any problems with conservative or reform Jews?

Are women just more likely to be shopping anyway? Not for those cliched women-be-shopping reasons, but just because they’re more likely to be stay-at-home parents, and therefore more likely to run errands etc during the day?

I worked with black women who were also more likely to follow around black people in our tiny retail store. Our most notorious shoplifter was a woman who always wore a burka and two accomplices (they usually stole more in one “visit” than the average of three middle-aged white women shoplifters). So of course, I was

I took the Epstein-Barr virus test last year, to find out whether I had mono. (Answer: Yes) So I think yes, but we just don’t refer to it specifically?

I’ve been picking up a lot from h&m onlīne - I can’t count on long sleeves there but I’ll check out the skirts. Thanks!
