    Oi!
    oitotheworld-

Thank you very much! The pain was horrendous, but is now achey pains. Depression is apparently a common effect at the end of the disease for chronic cases, and I am definitely experiencing that. Like, hardcore depression. So I'm just trying to stay afloat. If you do get it, the best pain relief I experienced was from

    Well said, thank you

I got it in the islands last summer. It's been hell for me. Glad you've been okay!

Great. LL is the poster child for CHIKV. There has been some serious discourse in the medical/public health arena regarding the introduction of CHIKV to the Americas recently. It has spread like wildfire in the Carribean and very little attention has been paid to it. It has ransacked the islands, which is especially

    Word!

OMG if I was hosting a party where this happened it would be the highlight of my life! If the hosts feel differently then they're lamers!

I stole apple juice from my school's cafeteria in high school. I was thirsty. I got caught. My punishment was to wash dishes (I had already been suspended so many times that the school saw it as ineffective punishment, so they got creative). It was actually awesome! I talked to all of the cafeteria staff, they cracked

I volunteer at an animal rescue regularly and we get a lot of calls from folks whose landlords have discovered their pets. When a landlord discovers it, they want that pet out immediately. Problem with moving quickly is that many people either don't have the funds to, or they are trapped in a lease where they lose a

If you read through the chain of comments you would see that I addressed all of these issues. Waste can be handled without contact. I realize the Spanish authorities made what they considered the best decision. I am critical of their decision.

Yeah the article said dogs MAY shed the virus. It's a theory without evidence. In fact, dogs may be immune to acute infection and therefore we should be looking to them for possible clues about the disease.

I just think it's patronizing to the veterinary field to "not allow them to be exposed". This is their devotion. You don't think a single vet would be interested in working with this dog? It doesn't seem to be an issue for the dog in Texas.

Also, that's not how what would work? The logging issue? Do me a favor and use google and put in "Ebola logging". Do your homework before telling someone "that's not how it would work".

Oooh an ethical quandary! Look, it depends. For me, if the worker was fully aware of the risks, and took them anyways, than to them it was worth it. I think it is insulting to veterinary medicine to say we shouldn't risk their lives for a dog. They studied and have devoted their lived to the well-being and life

I saw some of your other comments and actually agree. And I agree with your statement about health communication and following directives. But where in hell did I say anything about experimenting on a dog? I said observing during the incubation period over and over. There is a tremendous difference between

Insults exemplify your level of debate. The dog wouldn't have been a test subject. It would have been observed during the incubation period and tested. Then gone home to its owner if negative. Yup, I'm the one advocating for the animal's life and I lack compassion? Good one.

Which is important information. That we could have determined without killing the dog. I see your point, I honestly do, but I know different decisions could have been made that would keep the public safe. That's all.

The dog eating part was a joke. And in fact, logging in areas where fruit bats exist is also a risk factor. But seeing that I'm pretending to be a public health practitioner, you can not believe that and go about your business.

I can be the one who is critical of judgment calls made that I find unnecessary when there were other options.

Perhaps being the key word. Perhaps we shouldn't eat infected dogs than.
