Yeah I am not sure about recommendations of use while pregnant or nursing. But, I have been using it for a few months now and I am hooked. I think I will always use it.

You're totally right, problem is they are very cheap glass that cracks easily at high temperatures. Folks will continue using them in spite of small cracks, which can cut their lips open and increase the risk of disease transmission The pipes being distributed are Pyrex and can withstand very high temps.
The pipe is just a straight Pyrex tube with smooth edges.
