The flag in the background. The preppy outfits. The hand-holding and admiring gaze of a truly loving wife. This crap actually works to persuade votes rather than political ideologies. Shit.

Racism, classism, sexism, individualism; these are overt and covert norms within our society too. They do not EXACTLY make us functioning.
Just leaving and spending money elsewhere is exactly what they want. It does nothing maintain the status quo. That's why we have to fight against it.
Why abide by, or agree with, perceived societal standards? Just because they are the standard doesn't make them right or mean a person has crossed any line. Just my opinion.
Adderall is speed.
I was making more of a philosophical statement rather than an empirical one. So yes, countries with better social services are still capitalistic, but the fear of not succeeding within it I'm sure is decreased by virtue of having a government that cares for you and less of an individualistic ethos. So I could get into…
True. And substance abuse mitigation through laws and ethics is working really well.
Umm isn't capitalism kind of based on speed? The most efficient and productive output for the largest return? So, you know, it's kind of hard for non-ADHD folk to not abuse adderall when it is rewarded by society (i.e. professors, parents, bosses, etc., offer accolades when you get your work done quickly and well).
I think it is important to recognize that covering up our human body parts with clothing is a socially constructed norm; that there is nothing inherently inappropriate or indecent about body parts.
Oh, skin is mean to children? And wait, work safety is a concern here? Who determines this thing called "appropriateness"?
"Her life was not threatened by those 30 lbs."
This is pretty Freire-ian which I dig a bunch. I also want to second the comments stating this should be applied to all.
"It's not like she's wearing this."
I think people take sports a lil too seriously..
Funny, we have similar reasons but different outcomes. Years ago as a teenager, some friends and I ate a bunch of lsd and decided to hang in a jacuzzi belonging to our cool, older hippie friend. It was the dead of winter, there was snow all over the ground and the jacuzzi was about 20 feet from the back of the house.…
"It was sweet dad! The Russians, not the Chewvakias. But we like Russia because they wear the tall hats. I'm pretty sure, well, that's what mom told me". 4m26s mark. Yes, Chewvakias. For real laughing out loud.
This was so heat of the moment; this man is not only traumatized by having killed someone, but he saw his daughter being molested, it's unfathomable. Murder is not okay, I would never condone it, but I cannot possibly put myself in this man's shoes as I have never experienced the rage that this situation would incite.…
"Every single day, countless women put themselves out there, online, for the first time."
Good question. The problem with the sex dichotomy is that all sex (XX, XY) determines is the amount of hormones produced, which also creates our secondary sex characteristics. Both sexes produce the same primary hormones, but men produce more testosterone and women produce more estrogen. This is the only difference,…
You nailed it with the love child of hammer pants, boyfriend jeans, and culottes. Now, if I see someone where them, I will immediately start singing you can't touch this. Or I'll at least be thinking it.
