Gravity Falls is much more subtle than AT is, plus keep in mind that Dipper has other normal humans to temper his reality, whereas Finn is the only human in a weird world.

IMO this was kind of a weak episode, mainly because it relied WAAAY to heavily on reference for my taste, like Robbie getting attacked at the barrel factory. There was almost no character interaction w/Dipper and anyone else, and Robbie is a really weak foil to Dipper and their interactions work best when tampered…
