I actually really liked the way the finale handled the bender/non-bender argument, because it resolved the one issue I've had with the Equalists: Amon is legitimately a bad guy. Or at least a bad guy with "good" intentions.

I felt the exact opposite, the new villain was interesting and I like that a lot of the current Batman stuff deals with the repercussions of Batman on Gotham, but we've been through the whole Damian-is-a-brat shit already and his character had fucking been developed, and Tomasi is tearing it all apart.

Yeah that was a really weak, unsubtle twist, which is odd for Snyder b/c he's really good at tying shit together in ways you'd never expect.

@avclub-68e8e6860586596c1e7a37aa64d3fba4:disqus The biggest difference between Snyder and Johns is that Snyder also focuses on creator-owned work. He also has strong relationships with his artists and other writers (see Snyder and Lemire's SWAMP THING/ANIMAL MAN) so it's not like he sees himself on a mountain top.

As a long time Batfan, this issue was really great. I've loved Snyder's work on Batman since before the reboot, and this feels right in line.
