There are plenty of mixed kids that don’t get the luxury of looking like their white parent.

Because it really is okay to be black? Have you told Sage Steele this? I mean she’s the same shade as Beyonce, has a nappy head but is all too willing to tell anyone with a pen, pad or tape recorder she’s biracial. There are plenty of mixed kids that don’t get the luxury of looking like their white parent. Fuck it…
My feelings on this are strong as hell, so don’t take this the wrong way: Fuck that pastor.
There isn’t. We just have a gigantic problem with alcohol consumption in this country that nobody wants to address. Count all of the “my mom/grandmother totally drank during pregnancy and we all turned out juuuuussst fine” comments. It’s gross.
Do you think that maybe, just maybe, the medical community should tell people the preliminary results on things like “how alcohol probably hurts your baby” before they have every piece of data you think they need? Because I sure as hell would rather scientists come out with it as soon as they know there’s an issue,…
It didn’t come off as condescending to me. The resistance to science is real. I get it, I just had a baby, I was annoyed as hell at all the rules. Sure, there’s no way to completely protect yourself and sure, most lunch meat doesn’t have listeria. But shit, if we KNOW there is a risk, why not advise against it?!
Except saying “don’t drink at all” is sound science because it’s an application of the precautionary principle, which is, you know, good science. It’s saying “Scientifically, we cannot pinpoint when alcohol consumption becomes problematic or becomes likely to result in fetal damage, so the precautionary principle…
Oh lord. You really have not an idea what you’re talking about here.
I think part of it is how the word “problematic” is used in the first place. Better to name the actual problem (“the artist said something racist”, “the artist raped someone”) than to use a term so broad you could virtually always apply it (or at least make an argument for doing so) to the subject in question.
Wagner was a favorite of Hitler (and possibly horrible himself)
I looked for other articles on this. She’s going after him not because of his history but because of his art style. From the article;
Dig far and deep enough into anyone’s past, you will find skeletons. Not all skeletons are created equal of course. We are all problematic and we are all a collective of our actions. Narrowed down to specific moments in time and we all could be painted as terrible people.
Forget helicopter parenting. Thanks to her background, she would know exactly what is manipulation, how to spot it and how to use it. With this knowledge, her “pieces” make so much more sense. They aren’t performance pieces as much as manipulation pieces. Such as going after Picasso knowing full well that the press…
I’m sure there’s mountains of amazing art made by people who aren’t rapists or sexual harassers.
I doubt there’s much art at all that’s produced by people who aren’t problematic.
Emma makes a lot more sense when you consider that her parents are both psychotherapists, and her father, in particular, a psychoanalyst to CEOs.
Haha I’m a similar age and one of my colleagues just went on mat leave and she’s the same age as me. When I found out she was prego my (inner) reaction was “oh no what is she going to do?” and then I remembered that she’s an adult in a long term relationship with a full time job and this is what people do.
Meanwhile I’m still scared about unplanned pregnancy and I’m 29.
The podcast is just okay. It’s two very talented women, and the audience loves them, but unfortunately it’s too easy an audience. They started out as their funny selves with good chemistry, but it hasn’t built into anything.
Good. She should have rejected a lowball offer which would have restricted her intellectual property. That’s between her, her manager and Netflix. Negotiate a better contract and failing that, walk away.
