I guess I’m old, but the 60's model has the best looking grill of all the ones shown.

I attended two high schools. The first one had a full music program, including orchestra. I was a nerdy orchestra kid playing bass. We moved after my junior year and the school barely had a music program, no strings, so I had to play in the band. My introduction to band was when they pointed to the bass drum and said

I vaguely remember the Cuban Missile Crisis. The one I do is JFK’s assasination. Our school principal announced it during lunch in the cafeteria, and then we watched the rest of it in the subsequent days. I still remember seeing Jack Ruby killing Lee Harvey Oswald.

Yes, the ironically named girl group which rarely sings in harmony.

Of course it’s the throw which got Terrence “Magellan” Long at third. His nickname came from the routes he took in the outfield to try to catch balls. It sure was good to hear Dave Henderson’s voice on the clip. He left this world way too soon. RIP Hendu.

This was also shown on the Travel Channel’s show Mysteries at the Museum. It’s still a creepy story.

What an Athol...

A true coastal drive includes driving on the beach in Pismo Beach (technically the ramps are in Grover Beach and Oceano). I’d want to see that...

Yes, I know, but the other Dave McKenna is a piano god in my book.

I miss my 9-5, aka the “Swedish Studebaker”. Its final moments were to save our lives when we were rear-ended twice in the same accident. My wife still has her 9-3 convertible and the chances of her giving it up are somewhere between slim and none.

Yes, the V6 TDI does have the AdBlue system. Sadly, I purchased my Audi Q5 TDI in September, 8 days prior to the first news of this mess getting out to the public.

Now playing

Chevron seems to understand the correct way to do this.

Any classic Saab 900 with a stick. To remove the key from the ignition you needed to put the car in reverse. To put the car in reverse you had lift a ring below the knob first. There are far too many stories about clueless friends, parking valets, mechanics, etc not understanding how this works and breaking it.

The manufacturer doesn’t even have to be in business anymore to receive a recall notice. I just received one for my wife’s 2008 Saab 9-3 convertible. The problem has to do with the tensioners on the driver side seat belt failing. The recall is actually being handled by GM, although the nearest Saab official service

Back in July I had this very same discussion when my 2003 Saab 9-5 was in the shop. The repair bill was about $850 to replace the DI cassette. My response was that I’d keep it as long as the repairs were less than monthly car payments. Sadly, 3 days later it was totaled when we were rear-ended twice in one accident

In California that car would be considered just broken in with many good miles still left to go.

I miss all of my old Saabs - 1985 900, 2000 9-5 and our recently departed 2003 9-5 (The Swedish Studebaker) which recently gave up its life to protect ours. RIP. My wife still has her 2008 9-3 convertible, may it live long and prosper...

For a while in the 70’s Krazy George was also a high school teacher in Santa Clara, CA. I can only guess what his classroom was like. I saw plenty of Krazy George at A’s and Earthquakes games in the 70’s and 80’s.

Banjo Man!!! Some people don’t realize he only attends games for the A’s and 49ers, and yes he always has the appropriate cape for each. He’s also the “Chief Flight Commander” at Interstellar Propeller - http://propellerheadhats.com
