Is this a joke? Anyone could have made these screen shots in about an hour. They don't have to worry about working with any data, responsive design, etc. They did everything but the "work" part.

If you're reading even this much about gravitational waves you're not the average citizen.

If we find primordial gravitational waves...

same thing with idiots walking out into oncoming traffic without looking around... jesus christ.

So much for right-wingers who claim to support the "invisible hand of the free market". Seems that only applies when it works in the favor of their preferred lobbyists' industry...

Her legs take WAY too long to form her butt, her butt must be horribly disfigured under that skirt...

We are becoming more polarized. There are the strong devotees of science but also those who are vocal science-deniers. I have full confidence that in time, science will prevail.

Evolution has absolutely yielded results that any good engineer would have solved differently. I am no expert here, but there are properties of the eye, for instance, that turned out as they did because of the particular sequence of stages that naturally occurred via evolution. But if we could step back and design

Thanks for post. It is much appreciated. And I fully agree—not only was your question as an 8-year-old a good one, no one should EVER be made to feel the way you did.

I studied in Ithaca New York and Tyson's story about waiting at the bus station brought chills down my spine because I know exactly where that bus station was, and I suddenly appreciated Cosmos' ability to take us to the extended layer of the multiverse all the way back down to a little spot on planet Earth. =D

After watching that, I can nae read anything without it sounding like that lad in me mind.

It's kids being kids - get off your high horse.

Maybe I am just old, but that was beyond annoying. Everything about that was just hard to listen to. From the horrible sampled repeating "Yeah" crap at the start, to her actual singing, I couldn't stand to finish it. Now where is my pension cheque...

I agree. Defensive driving was not at its prime here. I also agree that a modern vehicle in good shape should have scrubbed off a lot more speed than he did. Having said that, one thing to keep in mind is that the wide-angle view of the camera will make that pickup truck appear farther than it was. In the same way

A modern, lightweight car with good tires and an attentive driver would've braked in plenty of time. That truck will live another day to get T-boned by the next guy.

As far as defensive driving goes, assuming someone else will do something (even something they should be doing) is a no-no, especially when it leaves you no out. There are a lot of drivers out there who do illogical things.

I'm not absolving the Ram driver of responsibility. He's a complete idiot, and should get fined/penalized/suspended. He should consider himself lucky that he's alive.

"A full size pickup is a lot of weight to bring to a stop"

I'd say he noticed a lot late. In terms of defensive driving and awareness, he gets a C-.

Proud of not speaking any foreign language? WOW.
