I do the same. I put the pump in the lowest setting then run inside to get what i need. My fear is not that it won’t stop pumping but someone will park on the other side and take my fuel for them self. I won't do it if its crowded or a busy time. 

Put shit gas in most high performance / high compression engines and you can tell. Mostly at idle and cold starts. BP and Shell do the best. Speedway is good for 99% of the cars.
