Goodings (I believe) auctioned that ‘36 Mercedes 540 K roadster at Pebble a few years ago. It hammered for something comfortably north of $10M. So yeah, I bet it might go for $15M or more today. It’s a fantastic looking car. I’m not sure I like the home, but the guy has great taste in cars.

It’s odd. The refresh is an improvement, but it looks a bit more like the last generation now. Then again, it might look different in person.

There was nothing strange about an aircraft disappearing without any trace during a solo circumnavigation in the 1930s. Earhadt’s was well known for all the obvious reasons, but unrecovered, over-water aircraft crashes were not uncommon in that era.

Wow, you have particularly poor reading comprehension skills. I said it (a plane gone missing without a trace) ‘could happen again very easily.’ I didn’t make any comment with respect to how easy, or difficult, it would be to adopt better technology.

Arguably the strangest civilian air disaster in aviation history. Understandably, it’s great fodder for conspiracy theories.

The sticker price on our GLS 550 was right around $105K (IIRC). Is it worth that much? Probably not. But, it’s the best SUV we’ve ever owned and we’ve owned a bunch. The interior finishes are exemplary and the engine and powertrain are more than capable . I think you can get GLS 450, which is very similar to the 550

Look, I don’t really want to relitigate the GM problem, so instead, I just provide a link to the Manhattan District USA’s summation of the GM criminal complaint and ensuing deferred prosecution agreement so you can read the sordid details for yourself...

First of all, Trump’s not ‘my guy.’ I didn’t vote for him. I think he’s an idiot.

Huh? You realize that the NTSB operates under the same kind of statutory authority that the EPA operates under right? Both organizations are ‘mandated’ by Congress. GM also violated several federal statutes and regulations that are generally enforced by the FBI and or SEC, like wire fraud statutes. I believe GM also

Actually, it was.   While it’s true that GM didn’t design the locking system to skirt or break US law, GM had a legal (as well as ethical) obligation to disclose to both the general public as well as its shareholders that there was a problem that posed a lethal risk to its car owners. Such a disclosure would have

Wut? The implication of his comment is that lazy people were too lazy to worry about this election so they elected a fascist, Donald Trump.

lolz. Barack Obama’s Justice Department used the Espionage Act to obtain search warrants for a Fox News reporter, something that was last done by Richard Nixon.

I have absolutely no problem with the government aggressively pursuing a criminal case against Audi and its culpable executives. Such prosecutions are fully warranted, IMO. However, the prosecution does perhaps seem a bit gratuitous considering similar indictments weren’t sought against GM when it’s clear that company

Bill and Hillary coming up empty

You’re not even smart enough to understand that the Clintons are STILL under federal investigation.

Those are amazing cars. Are they $800K amazing? Probably not. But, the workmanship and flawless execution are impressive nonetheless. It’s one of the few reimaginings of a great car that makes the original even better.

The Southern Poverty Law Center? HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA.

Took a little drive to Fallujah in the late Fall of 2004. That sucked.

Think how many more people can be terrorized at the local Cars & Coffee with the added torque of an electric motor powering the Mustang deathmobile.

Not always. Depending on regulation and government incentives, it can actually be financially attractive to shutter an older facility in favor of building new.
