I didn't get to play many new games this year. The Last of Us is one of the few that I did, and I am so, so glad. A genuinely significant game.
Talking about griefers makes no sense in the context of this game. "Griefing" is part of the game, similar to Eve Online. If the prospect of being killed by pricks doesn't appeal to you, then this game isn't for you.
I wouldn't say there's something wrong with designers per se, but there are thousands of self-appointed game designers who basically just want to get other people to make a game for them.

I think the point is that this guy is basically gonna be okay regardless of whether you give him $20, whereas $20 could literally be a lifesaver for somebody else.
