They realized what is currently going on is not interesting at all and that they should have spent more time with how society crumbled.

I never really understand the desire for stuff like this.  For me, it falls into the realm or all those 'special features' on expanded DVDs. Even if it's one of my favorite albums of all time, reading 'journals' written during that time will be at the best boring, and at the worst might undermine what I liked about it…
