Monreal (another player who has thrived under the new system) is more versatile than Debuchy. But who knows what might have been if Debuchy hadn't been so unlucky with injuries? I remember thinking Debuchy seemed like an upgrade on Bacary Sagna, since he was above him in the pecking order for the French national team.

Also, I don't get the impression that Szczęsny wants to be a back-up 'keeper anymore, especially since several Italian clubs want to sign him.
