No, I don't think so. I have never thought twice about saying "jerk" in polite company (around my family when I was a kid, for instance). To state the obvious: it depends on context. I have no problem whatsoever with the "TRUMP IS A C*NT" sign, mainly because a woman is holding it. I also don't have a problem with Geoffrey Chaucer using that particular word.
