Loved 10 Cloverfield Lane (OK, I’m a little ambivalent on those last 10 minutes, but I loved the rest). I hope they continue the trend of the movies essentially have nothing to do with each other apart from the title. Maybe Cloverfield 4 could be a historical drama or a documentary about a literal field of clover.

You mean other than the soundtrack, costume design, art direction, sound design, Ian McDiarmid, Sam Jackson, Ewan McGregor, set design, action set pieces like the pod race and saber fight, and the overall world building.

The pod race was pretty cool.

The problem is no matter how good the actor may be(and Portman can act when given a good script), It wont fix how stupid the character was in the prequels. Not intellectual stupid but just who she was and what she did. Its like Lucas didn’t know how the fuck governments worked and was just writing himself in circles.

Exactly they mention the prequels as much as is needed.  If Lucas had wrote them, Jar Jar would have been dancing in the background of every scene

The new movies acknowledge the prequels. Kylo Ren mentions a clone army in the first one and Luke briefly recounts the rise of Darth Sidious in the new one. There’s not a lot of reason to dwell on those events 50something years later, honestly.

Me agree completely that Padme is underappreciated character. For starters, her story only part of Phantom Menace that actually work (and me agree her stiff delivery is acting choice — we see her soften when she pretending to be servant). But me honestly not know how shoehorning her into new series would possibly

While I expect that Discovery will have a small core cast, I doubt they will ever have a 7-8 person ensemble that sticks around until the series finale, like past Trek shows.

The Defiant presumably had medical files on Prime Universe humans.

So, the writers competently seeded their storylines, rather than having shit happen at random?

Lorca’s identity totally took me by surprise. I was so distracted by the Tyler/Voq speculation that a second twist didn’t occur to me. I wonder if they leaked the Tyler/Voq thing because they intended that distraction.

That’s Discovery showing their canon knowledge. Remember how dark it was on Mirror Terok Nor? And I never finished The Emperor’s New Cloak because it was terrible, but I’m pretty sure Grand Nagus Zek beat Intendant Kira with a flashlight.

The Babe.com story in no way requires a years-long retreat from public life. Most people in the #MeToo world agree with that. The sum total of allegations against Ansari is one shitty date where he was a pushy horny asshole. That is not sexual assault or workplace harassment. Men should be held to a higher standard

This may be my favorite variant of the Star Wars Whiner breed: The Serious Filmmaking Issues crowd. Why won’t someone have a serious conversation about the merits? WHY??

It says a lot about you when you write a manifesto about one throwaway line about Star Wars in an article that’s about what someone named their kid.

I agree with you. The AVC is being too selective about their mocking of TLJ’s victims. We need a comprehensive take-down of every kind of sensitive
fan who didn’t like the film.

I made a “wtf is starz lol” joke, and some new commenters actually explained to me what Starz is >.<

I got a Community notification for this?

Remember when all the DC fanboys insisted that the BvS director’s cut solved every single problem the movie had? Now they don’t even have that.

The XY series as a whole absolutely tanked in the ratings, thanks to the end of Best Wishes and the rise of Yokai Watch, so it was decided to reinvent the show more or less from the ground up without going full on reboot.
