LOL my group has a woman that has been posting DAILY about her allegedly stolen dog. She literally has a map of “sightings” and updates it every day. I don’t know what to make of it.

One time I founds a dog and had it in my apartment for several hours. After some sleuthing, i found the owner, and they didn’t fucking realize he was gone.

My neighborhood forum’s posts are more like, “What sort of snake is this I found in my attic and where do you think I should let it loose where it will find a happy new home?”. Thank goodness.

I doubt that they’re actually looking to go to court, most cease and desists I’ve seen seem to be about intimidation. As for the lawyer, if you’re willing pay enough money finding a lawyer who’d do this shouldn’t be that hard.

Really, fuck all neighborhood centered forums. It brings out the worst in people. Yes sure, it might be a great way to get rid of a couch, but all that is negated by assholes.

I’m confused as to why a lawyer would even devote enough effort to this to write a letter. If I understand libel and slander correctly, which I might not, wouldn’t that mean that these women would have to prove they’re NOT racist in order for this to stand? How can you really prove that? This is very weird.

Streisand Effect: those ladies didn’t want the people in their small community to think they are racist, and now they are on the internet for everyone to read about and judge. Couldn’t happen to nicer people, really.
