'Jaws' is the one folks trot out when they want to indicate that Spielberg is a serious filmmaker. But the fact is, the overwhelming majority of his films are responsible for a lot of the unfortunate blockbuster-worship and cliches we see in cinema today.
exactly. all you're gonna get is complaints that '____ didn't tell the story right.' well no shit, they were pressured to do so. let people make what they wanna make, and create more opportunities for EVERYONE to do so.
Change the culture so that people are interested in telling stories outside of their comfort zone, that's what I think. And create more opportunities for women/POC/LGBTQ+ folks to tell THEIR stories.
