I wish you hadn’t sold out and started writing about weird passion projects and MMA. You were so much better when you focused purely on soccer. Especially with Hallsey in charge of screamer, you are sorely missed. Also stop doing those stupid pieces.
No you’re right she only accused an entire fraternity.
If you lived in the fraternity where the fake assault didn’t happen, with protesters round the clock, death threats, and cinder blocks crashing through your windows, you may disagree that there were no victims. Also, a couple of UVA administrators had their good names smeared.
You seriously need an education in critical thinking.
I agree fully that the majority of the fault for this disaster lies squarely on the shoulders of Rolling Stone and Sabrina Erdely. But Jackie is not completely blameless here. She knowingly told reckless lies to a major media publication. As a result, many people’s lives were negatively affected in very significant…
Yes, “fudged.” She invented a guy that didn’t exist, a gang rape that never happened, on a night that the fraternity in question did not throw a party. Any journalist with a shred of professionalism and integrity would have abandoned this non-story after doing the very basics of her job.
I’m confused. Are you upset that they wrote this after having someone made up an elaborate, fabricated story that had implications on the reputations of everyone involved? Because as far as I can tell, what they wrote is true. There are no facts to conclude at this point that she was a victim. That doesn’t mean facts…
How do you not realize that desperately clinging to this is counterproductive to the cause?
They mean that even after someone’s story is proven to be untrue and a fabrication, self-identifying as a “victim” should still net you special consideration and a completely baffling assumption of truth-telling.
A common characteristic of bad coaches is that they mistake bullying for leadership.
Now this is the type of scandal that could make soccer America’s sport.
In a related story Jerry Jones is contacting Nowak’s agent as we speak to see if he has any interest in the Cowboys HC job.
In 2012, the Philadelphia Union fired then-coach Peter Nowak. The ongoing legal battle over that firing has made…
Huh? Lots of artists have an extensive body of work under their belts before they become truly “famous”. Being late to the party does not make someone guilty of Columbusing.
In 2016, I vow everything, and promise nothing. Because I too stumble and stutter and stop, because I too am sometimes too cowardly for plain truth, because my abstract courage can dissipate in times when it’s most needed, and because I too have more to learn now than I ever have—because, in other words, I am a…
There’s a world of difference between reading a good book by an author who happens to be a woman of color, telling people about that book and recommending it to others; and publicly proclaiming your intention to avoid books by straight white men to score enlightenment points.
I love the Gawkerverse, but any time that love starts to blind me to the fact that the staff is almost totally made up of Brooklyn-by-way-of-the-Midwest hipsters who only like things when they’re “obscure” and never quite got out of the middle school habit of hating everything on principle, they make sure to remind me.
HA as if anyone can do anything, especially something as sanctimonious as “not reading books by white men” without telling absolutely everyone about it. What’s the point if nobody knows? What will you tell me to do next? NOT Instragram every meal?
Public announcements are never for the public, but for the announcer to pat themselves on the back. That’s why I only trust hermits with my reading list.
