Pretty much. It turns out that the higher up you go, the more you will need to interact and communicate with people. That’s not just the management track, either; that’s being a team lead, systems engineer, subject matter expert, or whatever.

The best advice I got as an engineering intern was “for the first three years, go to every happy hour / holiday party / lunch / kickball game.” It will make a huge difference come the inevitable layoff purges or when you’re looking for the next gig and SURPRISE! one of your former co-workers happens to be there too.

It always amuses me, as an American, to see teams in the EPL and the Championship sponsored by 888BET and the like.

As a Brit I was always enjoy being reminded that, while guns are completely legal in the USA, betting on the outcome of sporting events is not.

Someone needs to do a cost/benefit analysis on expected maintenance costs vs. payments on a newer, lower mileage option. This might be one of those cases where you spend more per year keeping it going than you would in payments on a nicer one.

I think we are getting a display of who eats a healthy, high-fiber diet and those of us who subsist on primarily Mexican, Asian, or processed foods.
