It really should have been more of a chool life simulator with going to classes, the competition between gouses, quidditch and all the students being named characters and interactable in some manner.

After putting over 100 hours into Persona 5 Royal, it’s clear to me you can make a game that is a school social sim half the time and a supernatural adventure the other half without much issue.  It sounds like they want to just make another open world collect-a-fest here

I’m actually kinda upset that it isn’t just Persona but Harry Potter, as Persona could translate very well into Harry Potter. Just finagle the combat into being something else, and you’d have a genuinely good “school simulator” with Hogwarts. Bare minimum, they could have copied the old stat bars from GTA and apply

This sounds like one of those cases where the party with more money wins by default. I doubt Rowling could have won this in court, since she didn’t invent the concepts of flying, broomsticks, or soccer, and other people are just as free to mash up those preexisting ideas as she was. Not to mention that, at least in

This game seems to have been well received by many... but one sentence from this article gave me pause: “your character only has to go to a single class in each subject, and aside from the forced cutscenes that find you waking in your common room quarters, there’s no sense of the days passing the way they would

It’s probably a blessing Quidditch isn’t in the game. The accompanying quest where you would have to inspect the genitals of the players would have been really awkward

Sometimes even the absolute best of a particular genre is sometimes godawful for me. I hated Skyrim from the moment I started it since I found the setting and characters repulsive. The best JRPG of all time, whatever one thinks it is, will turn me off the same way. Shadow of the Colossus was another one I absolutely

Yeah, and “SUVs” and “drag racers” used to just be called “cars”.

So you’re saying that disagreeing with someone’s opinion on video games, and sharing said disagreement, is worse than physical assault and verbal abuse? You’re literally telling this person they’re terrible because they shared their opinion about someone else’s opinion. And you essentially advocated physical violence.

I like how video games lay bare how silly all “best x” lists are, since it’s immediately clear how someone can fail to connect with a game that have basically nothing to do with artistic decisions.  Like “I don’t like first person games” or “I don’t like rhythm games” or “I don’t like turn-based games” are all valid

JRPG always denoted a style of game to me, not an RPG made in Japan. I don’t consider Dragon’s Dogma or Dark Souls JRPGs. But I do consider Chained Echoes a JRPG, even though it was developed by someone from Germany.

Yep, it’s hard to forgive Miyamoto for his arrogance at times. The Paper Mario franchise is known for its charming, emotional writing and Miyamoto being the reason why we got Sticker Star being the way it is and its other handheld PMs is...a pretty tough sell if you’re expected to appreciate the guy for his creative

I love Shigeru Miyamoto, like any good Nintendo nerd. He’s one of the few living people in the world I’d very much be honored to meet in person. But let’s be honest, it’s not like he’s the only creative voice in the company, nor has he been the primary creative voice on “his” creations (DK, Mario, Zelda, etc) in quite

The Super Paper Mario fiasco comes to mind as well. I’m sure that cock-up was egg on a lot more faces at Nintendo than his but in reading all the interviews and such it really sounds like he was the most instrumental in the decision to neuter the Paper Mario series as a result of that.

I’m honestly okay with Miyamoto retiring or stepping back more from operations at Nintendo. His influence on the company and its games is undeniable, but at some point, new talent has to be allowed to flourish.

The whole debacle with Star Fox Zero probably would have been avoided if he were more hands off as well.

The problem with this is that it kind of defeats the purpose of Viola, which is to have someone with intense magical potential, tempered by Luka’s bumbling but good-natured character, which allows them to start fresh with a weaker character who can grow into an entirely new person, rather than another powerful and

I’m assuming the headline’s ironic given how ott it is, but in general yeah second-person headlines are fucking awful.

You think Steve Jobs wasn’t also a polarizing figure?

“Not only is this thing I stole because I thought it was funny NOT actually funny, but it’s not funny because you’re WOKE, wahhh woke woke, everything I don’t like is WOKE, crediting other people for things I steal is WOKE”

Famous Asshole: “Hey, look at this funny thing I found, 95 million followers.”
