Because the E46 is universally considered to be a better all-around car with a much better chassis, especially when compared to an E90 330i (gross) for which the power is comparable.

This price is CP for sure. The only E46's that have maintained any sort of value are either M, wagon or ZHP. These can be had on craigslist in similar condition for 4-6k all day.
