The weird part is that Dangerzone being a song by Kenny Loggins is pretty clear from the show itself. I had no idea about the existence of that song or even Kenny Loggins before either.

Which is frankly ridiculous. 2010 and even the pro-gay campaign is almost contained in the side notes, implications and secondary material. Good job, pop culture. (I realize I'm only speaking about the pop song part, but still…)

I've never really seen the video, it's possible. The message as I remember was of general inclusiveness, which applies to Firework too (the lyrics really aren't any more specific; in fact I can't think of any other song from that time period that even said gay/queer out loud than Born This Way).

Well, it's not like it went out of style. I have problems with It Gets Better too (like that in some cases - Glee - it just sped along the descent into pure bullshit), but it signified a tiny shift in the pop culture for the better.

I honestly think that it's better to have that narrative in the media than to have none. (Plus I enjoy We R Who We R immensely for the shamelessly ridiculous lyrics. And if I didn't know it tied into the It Gets Better campaign, I wouldn't have noticed. It's just Kesha at her Kesha-est).

Maybe I just watched the wrong episodes of Desperate Housewives, but the treatment of that character seemed all kinds of disgusting to me.

At this point I think Emily on Pretty Little Liars is and forever will be the best representation of a gay teenager on TV.

A trespassing I feel obliged to report to the gay police. You will have your liking men card revoked shortly and consequently all forms of future access to penis denied.

I think a lot of gay people suffer from a heightened version of this. The "I can't enjoy X because enjoying X would make me a stereotypical gay person and I've made a deal with myself to never be that." (or the opposite version of "I don't enjoy X but not enjoying X will result in social exclusion"). I wonder if it's

My ex-boyfriend loved the series as well. He's 19. I've watched the first few episodes and got bored, but it really didn't seem that bad to me.

Oh wow, I just assumed it was because a dude is singing about hoping for another dude to sweep him off his feet this show is about gay people have you mentioned. Didn't know it had such history. Thank you for that.

I started getting sad that Grandma is obviously dying in the next five minutes the moment they said she has unexplicably got better. Isn't that a storytelling rule or something?

I think your interpretation is the one that's less convincing, but I see what you're getting at. I think that Hannah's mom concern about Adam actually stems from her own experience, as I wouldn't describe her husband as "somewhat unexciting". He always seems more like an oddball kind of guy who's definitely much tamer

I had strong doubts about this season at the beginning, but Girls has been on such a roll lately. I like the balance of last night's fever dream packed with comedy and this more touching outing back to back.

I don't really see the Adam's apple thing, but I'd really add armpits to the list (that can go on anyway).

Okay, I'm joining the chorus with that scene of Patrick and his mom. That was completely brilliant. As was the rest of this episode. The only way it could have been better is if they used the Billie Holiday version of The Man I Love (which I know would fit less thematically, but whatever, it's awesome).

Yes, the bad guys were pretty fucking lazy, but they were only in the episode because something needed to happen in order to get to Jacobi's awesomeness, so I don't mind much.

I loved the Master stuff in End of Time, even though the Time Lords' return sort of sucked. Also they chose the best possible way to force the Doctor to regenerate and his final tour de companions was a nice farewell too.

But the version of Ten and Rose we see in Tooth and Claw is not representative of Ten and Rose overall. They were riding a high of his recent regeneration and a sort of youthful energy that got toned down after School Reunion and The Girl in the Fireplace.

I think that entirely the worst part of how Rose ended up is that you get the sense that for her, there is no life after this and she will never get over it and carry on with her life, an idea that's very much supported by SPOILERS her return in Stolen Earth/Journey's End. Also just pairing her off with the Metacrisis
