Yeah - the fact that the settlement winds up getting paid by the taxpayers of Phoenix (or whereever) is frustrating. This doesn’t come out of the police budget, even though it should. And that’s WHEN someone actually manages to win the case, which is never a given (even when it ought to be).
The proposed settlement is only the latest the city has had to pay due to excessive force. Over the last 10 years, the settlements have cost the city millions of dollars.
