Cities are going to have to defund the police departments before the police departments lawsuits bankrupt the cities. Defund means reallocating or redirecting funding away from the police department to other government agencies funded by the local municipality. That’s it.

I’m a teacher. A student ran his finger up both my thighs and I managed to not knock his little ass put. I reported him and he got sent back to alternative school. I had a student shoved into my back and a disc in my back herniated; did I hit either student? No, I didn’t. As an educator, I’ve had students in my face

Good! This case is absolutely horrifying and completely underscores why defunding the police is necessary. They shot this woman’s child and killed her over a fucking traffic violation. Tax payers are paying $38 million to rectify these bastard cops’ actions. That $38 million should be going directly toward healing and

So, apparently the penalty for missing a court date stemming from a traffic citation is the death penalty. Seems fair and reasonable. Nothing wrong here. Nothing to see. Move along.

This is part of what “defund the police” is shorthand for, in addition to diverting resources to non-police assistance for things that absolutely don’t need to involve police officers.

On the one hand, yes. On the other, would they be able to send each other racist memes without smartphones?

Police are allowed to use force in the event of being confronted with “a threat”, and they haven’t gotten the memo that “a threat” is no longer to be considered synonymous with “a person darker than Casper the Friendly Ghost.”

I am not excusing her behavior but her talking doesn’t even come close to what he did. And then for the union to flat out lie for him?? This is why the current way that policing in this country is done needs to be defunded and started over.   Oh and “you about to lose yo job.  Get this dance.”

“...you’re essentially saying that you are okay with police officers being less able to deal with a belligerent public than a 15-year-old McDonald’s employee.”

It’s his job. No one is forcing him. He’s not volunteering out of the goodness of his heart. If he can’t do the job without losing his shit (imagine doing that to someone who got in your face in ANY profession) then he doesn’t belong in the job.

Perfect post/picture synergy.

Anyone who has ever read a comment of mine knows what I’m going to type.

So what? Why do you say that like it matters? When you make excuses like this, you’re essentially saying that you are okay with police officers being less able to deal with a belligerent public than a 15-year-old McDonald’s employee.

I wonder how many cops hate Steve Jobs now. They had a great gig before all this “popularized smartphones” shit.

American policing. Escalate, Attack, Arrest (or Murder).

Who let this out of the greys?

Not to mention, being “the aggressor” doesn’t mean jack shit when you respond to words with a physical assault.

Even though I don’t condone her actions, they didn’t warrant that reaction from a “trained public servant”. I wonder how many other women he’s beaten. That looked a little too easy for him.

“Clearly she was the aggressor,” Stahl told the Herald. “She was being asked to leave. She’s being belligerent and she pushes her face right into his face.”

I can’t wait to tell my Mom that all those slaps she applied to everybody in the house, including Dad, were actually “diversionary strikes.”
